Though many factors can contribute to depression, there are little things you can do to keep it in check. Here are a few quick and easy tips:

1) Aim for 6-8 hours of sleep per night in a dark, quiet place. Light on the body and noise during sleep can stunt your production of seratonin, and deficiency can lead to mild depression symptoms. Sleep is important!
2) Make sure you’re getting your balanced nutrients every day; plenty of mild depression symptoms and health problems can be kept at bay by making sure your body is fueled properly!
3) Get some sort of exercise every day—it’s as easy as walking your dog for ten minutes or taking the stairs when the option is given. Your body is a machine, and keeping it in tune can work wonders!
4) Put yourself in a position to laugh. Laughter and smiling are not only excellent exercise—they also release endorphins, the happy chemical!
5) Observe what drains you, and cut it out! If there’s a person or a thing in your life that leaves you feeling emotionally tied in knots, get rid of it! It’s not worth damaging yourself over!

Namaste! :)

Sometimes it’s okay to be a minority of one!

“Discretion [is] the better part of valor…” —Chief Justice John Marshall

When your peers try to get you into stupid things, they often mean well. They think they’re being polite and encouraging you to do something enjoyable. However, if you recognize an activity as purely moronic and damaging, it’s absolutely fine to turn down the offer. They might not be pleased, but don’t let the idea of standing up for your own beliefs scare you. At the end of the day, what’s bad for you is still bad for you, no matter how many of your friends are doing it with you!

(That being said, don’t forget discretion. If your peers are trying to get you to, say, get tested for STDs or stop cutting yourself, it may beĀ better to listen. Keeping a good head on your shoulders is the key!)

People create their own questions because they are afraid to look straight. All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don’t sit looking at it - walk.
